Q. Why does the new AHA BLS card say BLS Provider and not Health Care Provider?
A. The audience-specific identifiers have been removed because the new BLS Course is designed for healthcare providers caring for patients both in and out of a hospital/in-facility setting. For example, the course DVD includes tracks for both prehospital and in-facility healthcare providers. Instructors may choose a track depending on the type of provider they are teaching or can alternate between tracks to meet the needs of both types of providers.
Q. What forms of payment do you accept?
A. In regards to other forms of payment. We do NOT accept any personal checks, money orders, cashier checks, and the like. If it is absolutely necessary you can pay for a class in person with cash only. This is done by appointment only - please email us to set up a time (often before or after any scheduled classes so please review our schedule before).
Q. Do I have to register for class at your website?
A. We encourage all students to use the online registration process available on our website. You can register for classes 24 hours a day, usually up to two hours before class is supposed to start. It is understandable that there can be some hesitation using your credit card online - we can assure you we have never had any issue with fraud.
Q. When is the last date to pay the instructor fee?
A. You are able to cancel at any time, please keep in mind fees will likely apply. Cancellations the day of class, no shows, and significantly late students will not receive a refund. This is always a difficult rule to carry out but it is strongly enforced in order to provide an enjoyable experience for everyone else. Please review our policies.
Q: Approximately how long does it take to complete the HeartCode BLS (with test included) online portion?
A: The online portion can be completed in approximately 100 minutes; however, unprepared or inexperienced students may require additional time. Also, the time to complete may be longer if students are using the program at a location where there is a firewall. Time to complete a skills practice and testing session varies (average time is 30-60 minutes).
Q: Is there a test score that must be achieved by students in order to successfully complete HeartCode BLS online portion?
A: Yes, students must score at least 84% on the online written test, which is consistent with all of AHA’s healthcare courses.
Q: Is a skills session required?
A: Yes, to earn an AHA BLS class completion card, students must successfully complete a BLS skills practice and testing session with an AHA BLS Instructor or using a voice assisted manikin (VAM) system. Students must bring their Certificate of Completion to the skills session
Tuberculosis
Q. Will participants be able to stagger doing the 5 modules or do they need to be completed all at the same time?
A. You can do module 1 then come back later to do others at your own pace within a 60-day period. The system saves what module(s) you have completed.
Q. Will the ISDH start requiring people to be certified to give Mantoux?
A. The State does not require Mantoux certification at this time. If you are from a long term facility or an acute care facility you may want to check the guidelines, since the guidelines are different.
